Complete

The song I picked was Complete by Kutless. They are a Christian rock band. The song address’s too me more in a pathos way, because I am trying to rebuild my relationship with god. There are thousands of people looking for God’s love and having a relationship with him.
When reading the lyrics of the song you start to understand what Kutless is trying to state in there song. For example the beginning of the song Kutless writes about being alone at first, needing help, guidance and need to be shown the path of the Holy Spirit. The chorus of the song helps to try and understand that someone is need of guidance. I believe that by reading the lyric explains that he’ll come to you when you accept him. Kutless used great term choices, example “God, I’ve fallen to my knees” provide a visual that someone’s giving up in life and is asking God for help. Another choice of words is “I’ve got to tell the world about the things you’ve done”, explains that someone was shown and saw all of the great things they heard and seen and want to share it with the rest of the world of how amazing it truly is.
The video is not the official video of the song, due to the fact it was just recently released with the album. Although the video I did find was done by someone off of youtube.com. The person had a picture slide show along with the song in the background. I think the person that made the slide show did a fantastic job selecting the right picture to help give a visual aid. Also the pictures matches up with the words of the song too help understand the song.
Although there are thousands of people looking for God, there are some people that have already found him, but lost focus but you just have to ask for him, accept him and he’ll come. I think that Kutless did a great job by putting that statement into a song, because all you have to do is just ask for him.

Complete lyrics by Kutless

Incomplete it all began
The broken state that I was in
I wished that I was someone else
Cause' I was lost inside myself
I started seeing who I am
The day my life with you began
You clearly solved the mystery
That finding you meant finding me.

God, I've fallen to my knees
I'm bowing at your feet
I give you all of me
In you I am complete
It's all because of love
I'm not who I was
I'm who I meant to be

In you I am complete God who doesn't need at all
I heard your voice I felt your call
It's echoing I cannot shake you off.
The stars that shine they bear your name
They sing the song that gives you praise
You've captured me
My heart is lifting off

God, I've fallen to my knees
I'm bowing at your feet
I give you all of me
In you I am complete
It's all because of love
I'm not who I was
I'm who I meant to be

In you I am complete I've got to tell the world about the things you've done
I want to shout it out, I'm gonna live it now
Amazing grace is why I'm singing

God, I've fallen to my knees
I'm bowing at your feet
I give you all of me
In you I am complete
It's all because of love
I'm not who I was
I'm who I meant to be
In you I am complete

  1. After reading Draft #1, I am not quite sure what the thesis is here. The argument though, is not really an argument, but an inspirational statement nonetheless. That God is there for you when you need him. Her draft deals with the rhetoric, but uses subject matter to back it up with text based off imagery. She doesn't really identify much from the video, at least not an argument.

Breanna does include specific text to help support her argument/statement. She uses examples from the lyrics: "God, I've fallen to my knees." "I've got to tell the world about the things you've done." Well Breanna could use more specific examples from the music video. She mentions the photos she has seen in the video, but maybe she could talk about what the actual image is. Also, with the text she could talk about why the chorus, or what I'm assuming to be the chorus, is what it is. That would be something along the lines of repetition even. They could give examples of how the text and video go hand in hand. It is said, but it is a little vague.

Breanna doesn't analyse or back up her examples/supports, she just states them. The examples though do back up what she is saying in the beginning about God. The examples from the text could be further analysed and the music video defintely.

The thing that sticks most to me is the fact that she picked a Christian band. I also love that she stated she is rebuilding her relationship with God because just like the lyrics of the song, she too is falling to the Lord. I have a faith as well and I guess its always nice to know you're not the only one who stumbles.
