How to Deal

I chose the song Talk by Coldplay. The reason I chose this song is because I feel like I can relate to it in many different ways. With my friend being two thousand miles away due the being in the Army, I would listen to the song when I really missed him and I felt connected and closer. Also, with my everyday challenges the lyrics make me feel like I’m not the only person struggling with those issues.
Usually Coldplay’s songs don’t match their music videos. It is generally the band walking around singing and playing their instruments. With the song Talk it is the band landing on a different planet while traveling in a starship. Throughout the video the band is walking around and eventually they run into a broken down robot and after a few minutes they get the robot working. At the end of the video the band takes off in their spaceship and the robot grabs the ship out of the air and eats it like a cookie, which was the end of the video.
The lyrics match the video in the sense of it taking place in the future and at the same time staying still. With the line, “in the future where will I be?” It really hits me because at this point in my life I am completely unsure of where I am headed and what I am going to be doing. The line, “I’m so scared about the future and I wanna talk to you” you can take and use for a friend, the man in the moon or God. When I’m having trouble with things I try to get advice from family and respected friends. Coldplay uses the word brother but it could be anybody you feel comfortable talking to. “Are you lost or incomplete?” is another line that is a good one to think about. Are you struggling right now with a situation or have you completely fallen off the road? This can happen to anybody at any age or situation.
This song as I had mentioned earlier has really lain on my heart, and every time I listen to it I feel a little bit better with all the chaos that is actually going on in my life. Not only have the words caught my attention but the music itself. I have always been surrounded by music my entire life and I can’t go a day without listening to music. It has an upbeat tempo that helps lighten the tone of the lyrics when it is all put together. It’s a song that I feel is to be taken seriously into consideration on how you reflect your past and where you want to be in the future. What you should change and what you consider good aspects of growing.
Coldplay has written many great songs in their lifetime, while Talk may not be one of their most popular, but it has been my ringtone for the past year and I listen to the song at least once a week to twenty times a day. The song inspires me to stop running from the present and take control of my life and figure things out no matter how scared or nervous I may be.
Talk is a song that can help a lot of people relate. No matter the situation it’s a good song to help brighten your day. Whether you try something again and again, or do something completely off the charts; whatever makes you happy is what you should do.
I am a person who has had many ups and downs in her life and some days I do feel like I am the only one with a struggle going on. Every time I hear my phone ring or play it on my iPod I start to dance around and the words get stuck in my head, because I feel the song is telling you to reach for the stars, especially with the lines “ You can climb a ladder up to the sun Or write a song nobody has sung” Nobody knows what tomorrow is going to bring and everyday is a new day where you can start fresh when you wake up in the morning. Nothing is ever too small and dreams really do come true. Everybody has struggles day to day from young to old. If you put your mind to it you will receive what you want. Things do take time and it’s not going to be handed to you if you are just sitting back doing nothing about it but dreaming.
I hope everybody gets a chance to listen to this song and even if they don’t get a chance to watch the video the song speaks for itself. That whenever you are feeling down listen to the song and remember nothing is impossible and to take the future by the reigns and snap into what you want.
