There is never really a clear thesis stated. Throughout the paper though it is shown that the argument being made is that the song is trying to portray that everyone has struggles and that people should reach for the stars no matter what. There is a sentence in the first paragraph saying, “with my everyday challenges the lyrics make me feel like I’m not the only person struggling with those issues.” This sentence kind of gives a thesis, but it would have a stronger effect if it was more direct. However, it does deal with rhetoric.
The examples that were given from the lyrics and video were pretty strong. They did support the thesis being made. Examples were:
-The video is set in the future which matches the line “In the future where will I be.”
-“Are you lost or incomplete,” describes a person struggling.
-“You can climb a ladder up to the sun, or write a song nobody has sung,” is saying that you should reach for the stars.
A few more examples from the lyrics and video would make the paper stronger. By taking direct quotes and analyzing them you can help to argue your thesis. Also, maybe go a little deeper when explaining the lyrics and video. Try to explain exactly what the singer is trying to portray in detail.
I like how in the paper you explain how the song makes you feel. I like the line “Whether you try something again and again, or do something completely off the charts; whatever makes you happy is what you should do.”
